We asked Fixx athlete Devin Simmons a few questions about his CrossFit journey..
What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
“I have always liked CrossFit and gone to different boxes wherever I lived. When I moved to the Catalina Highway area I noticed Crossfit Fixx was just five minutes from my house and couldn’t wait to check it out.”
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
“I think you always are a bit curious at first what the culture is going to be like. I have had less than other desirable experiences at other boxes. Sometimes they can be a little intense and not as friendly. But this place was awesome and inviting from the beginning.”
What was your first “bright spot”? (Positive moment)
“I think my first Murph was a fun experience. As hard as it was everyone made it a lot more enjoyable because of the party-like environment.”
What are you working on now?
“Trying to get my weight down a little, get my stamina up, and routinely complete Rx!”
What is your favorite FIXX memory?
“I honestly think this past year has been very memorable. Its been a hard year for everyone with the COVID pandemic and we needed to find ways to be creative to keep in shape and find positive avenues to exert stress. I really believe having CrossFit Fixx in my life during that time (as hard as it surely was on the business) really made a huge difference, being able to socialize, get outside, and maintain physical fitness.”
Do you have a favorite movement? Favorite WOD?
“I like the Murph! I also like chippers, anything that keeps me moving and just chipping away at something. You get a real sense of accomplishment when it is done.”
