We asked Fixx athlete Kyle Justice a few questions about his CrossFit journey..
What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?
The efficient workouts and challenging movements peaked my interest. This was a stark difference to the monotonous triathlon training I was burned out on.
What was your first impression? How has that changed?
My first impression was how great of a workout I got in such a short amount of time. I was sore all over and felt good about myself.
Much of those same feelings still exist, and I love the comradery. I find the 5am class to be so supportive and uplifting. I’ve realized I need to workout just as much for my mental health as I do my physical health.
What was your first “bright spot”? (Positive moment)
There has been so many, getting on the leaderboard for the first time was great. Becoming a coach and helping someone reach a new PR is a great feeling.
What are you working on now?
Being under 230 lbs. haha. My main focus is getting a good workout and overall health. I would also like to be as strong as Lisa Brady someday.
What is your favorite FIXX memory?
That is a tough one, seeing folks get their first HSPU, MU, or hit new PR’s is awesome. I recall doing the half marathon row with Matt Brady, that was fun and full of chafing. Lastly, the slumber party at Todd Hartman’s house.
Do you have a favorite movement? Favorite WOD?
I’ve always been a fan of Olympic lifting due to its complexity. My favorite workouts have always been Nancy and Amanda.
