CrossFit FIXX Member Highlight – Anna Hammond!

“Growing up as a competitive baton twirler, I never had to “exercise”. Between baton lessons and ballet, I kept very active practicing sometimes 6 hours a day. Now that I’m older, I just didn’t like going to the gym to workout. I hated the treadmill and such. My husband Aaron looked into other options for us and found CrossFit FIXX.

I was totally opposed to CrossFit. I had heard of people doing crazy CrossFit, throwing tires around, and getting injured. That just wasn’t for me. After much coaxing, Aaron talked me
into at least trying the three free classes. If I didn’t like it, then I didn’t have to do it. So, we tried a couple classes. We had sore muscles that we didn’t even know we had.

…But, I was hooked.

I couldn’t believe I was now excited to workout. Everyone was so welcoming and encouraging. The coaches made each WOD scalable to my ability and I never felt like I couldn’t do it. At first, I tried to make at least 3 classes a week. Now, I try to go every possible day I can. I absolutely love it!

My first bright spot was probably the first time I was able to RX a WOD. This took me many months to be able to get to the RX weight prescribed for the WOD. So, that first time I did it was pretty satisfying.

I’m currently working on getting my double-unders in a row and collecting more gold stars!

I’ve had lots of great memories during my time at CrossFit FIXX–from barbell club, to ROM WODs, to working out with my husband, to making new friends. But, my 8:30 “Mom’s Class” definitely knows my favorite memory…can you say Jump Rope?!!!”
