Meet Your Nutrition Coach

Hello FIXX family!

I’m Vanessa, your Nutrition Coach here at CrossFit FIXX. I am so excited to begin to work with you all to enhance your health through nutrition.  Whether you want to complete a major overhaul or just need a tune up, I am here for YOU!

Over the last two years, I, myself have gone through a nutritional overhaul.  In the midst of the pandemic, when my stress, eating and drinking had gotten the best (or should I say worst) of me, I decided enough is enough!  Through trial and error and lots of soul searching, I found ways to establish positive eating habits and revamp my relationship with food. (I also lost about 40 lbs. in the process – can you say “beneficial side effects”?!) I just turned 45 and I am happier and healthier than I’ve been in a looooong time.  Because of my personal experiences, I found a passion for positive nutritional health and became a certified nutrition coach!

My career up to this point has been in the helping professions.  From case management, to counseling to crisis intervention, my focus has been on working with individuals to identify their biggest concerns and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.  I’m excited to transfer these skills to focus on fitness and health.  

When you meet with me, we’ll discuss your nutritional needs and goals, look at barriers to those goals and come up with a plan! We’ll work together in a JUDGMENT FREE zone to create sustainable changes in your life. I believe in “approach” goals not “avoid” goals.  I think adding things to your life and your routines is easier and more realistic than being restrictive.  I will meet you where you are NOW and we’ll work together to make changes you are comfortable with.

Why Strength Training Is Important As You Age

People can do daily activities with a minimal amount of cardiovascular fitness, but when they don’t have the strength or the muscle power to do daily activities, that’s when they lose their independence. To build muscle, you need to do strength training!
